Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has strengthened its Southeast Asia strategy by acquiring a 15% stake in Commonwealth Kokubu Logistics Pte. Ltd. (CKL), Singapore’s largest food cold chain logistics company.

CKL operates two multi-temperature warehouses in the Jurong area, including the 8 Jalan Besut facility—one of Asia’s largest automated cold storage hubs. This facility spans five floors with ambient, chilled, and frozen storage, has capacity for 90,000 pallets, and features a 45-meter-high automated storage and retrieval system.

The investment aligns with MOL’s BLUE ACTION 2035 plan, under which the group is transforming its business portfolio to achieve regional growth and stable earnings amid fluctuations in the shipping market.

Through this partnership, MOL aims to expand its logistics business in Southeast Asia, a region expected to see increasing demand due to population growth and economic development.

CKL provides end-to-end 3PL and 4PL services, including warehousing, inventory management, customs clearance, and last-mile distribution for foodservice operators and retailers.

Its high-density, energy-efficient operations run 24 hours a day, supported by advanced IT systems that ensure quality, traceability, and operational efficiency. CKL also plans to extend its services to other Southeast Asian countries, building on its established infrastructure in Singapore.

The signing ceremony took place in Tokyo on December 9, 2025. CKL is a joint venture with Commonwealth Capital Pte. Ltd. (51%) and Japan’s Kokubu Group Corporation (34%), which serves over 35,000 customers and 10,000 suppliers nationwide.

MOL’s investment not only supports regional growth but also reinforces sustainable, safe, and value-added logistics solutions for the food cold chain.

By combining MOL’s logistics expertise with CKL’s operational scale, the partnership sets a benchmark for high-quality, efficient, and sustainable cold chain logistics across Southeast Asia.
