DREWES Logistics has entered the Indian market with the formation of DREWES Logistics India following the acquisition of a majority stake in an established local logistics provider according to a Project Cargo Journal article.

The new entity integrates seven operational sites across New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad, employing 52 staff. Sundresh Sarup, the former Managing Director of the acquired company, continues to lead the subsidiary to ensure operational continuity.

The move aims to leverage India’s rising position as a global production and sourcing hub. Patric Drewes, Managing Director of DREWES Logistics, said, “With DREWES Logistics India, we are now offering our expertise in project logistics, ocean freight and air freight in one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.”

Thomas Hölker, Co-Managing Director, added, “With our new national subsidiary, we are positioning ourselves in an environment with long-term growth potential, particularly in project-related industrial and plant logistics – our core competency.”

The Indian operations will coordinate closely with Bremen headquarters to manage transport chains between Europe and the Indian subcontinent. Sascha Simon, Co-Managing Director of the DREWES Group, highlighted that a dedicated structure on the ground is critical as production increasingly shifts to South Asia. Further international expansions outside Europe are reportedly under consideration.

This strategic entry positions DREWES to support European companies diversifying supply chains and mitigating geopolitical risks, while reinforcing its global network in project logistics, air, and ocean freight services.
