This award focuses on a logistics operation that is centred around retail distribution - supermarkets, fashion, online etc.

Entry is by a 5 A4 page submission (11pt font size minimum); the judges will be looking for clear information backed up by facts, supporting materials and statistics, that pays particular attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Efficiency and Timeliness: Please demonstrate the efficiency of your logistics operation in delivering products to retail outlets or customers, particularly over the last 12 months. In your answer, please consider Consider factors like order processing speed, transportation speed, and on-time delivery rates.
  • Inventory Management: Please demonstrate how effectively your logistics operation manages inventory levels to ensure products are readily available for retail. This includes tracking inventory turnover, minimising stockouts, and optimising warehouse space.
  • Cost Optimisation: Please demonstrate the effective implementation of strategies to minimise logistics costs while maintaining or improving service quality. This may involve evaluating transportation costs, warehousing expenses, and cost-saving innovations.
  • Supply Chain Resilience: Please demonstrate your logistics operation’s ability to adapt to disruptions and unforeseen challenges, such as supply chain disruptions, natural disasters, or unexpected demand spikes. Where possible, include any contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies which were adopted and demonstrate their level of effectiveness.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Please provide evidence of how you monitor and measure customer satisfaction levels resulting from your retail logistics operation. Include measurable results, e.g., customer feedback, return rates, customer service quality, etc.
