UK-based WS Holdco, the investment vehicle led by transport entrepreneur William Stobart, has acquired specialist pallet distribution provider Walkers Transport and London-based pallet distribution business Madex Logistics, according to reporting in Insider Media.

WS Holdco, a portfolio company of DBAY Advisors, stated the transactions mark a further milestone in its growth journey and strengthen its position as a provider of fully integrated logistics services in the UK. On completion, the combined group is expected to generate annual revenues of more than £400 million (€473 million).

With bases in Leeds, Manchester and Lichfield, Walkers Transport's proprietary technology stack has positioned it at the forefront of the pallet distribution sector, providing services to a loyal customer base. The company also adds international freight forwarding capabilities to the group.

In its latest filed results covering the year to 29 December 2024, Walkers Transport Holdings posted turnover of £77.5 million (€91.6 million). The deal marks an exit for Total Capital Partners which backed a management buyout of Walkers Transport in 2017.

Group turnover increased from £27 million (€31.9 million) during Total Capital's investment period, alongside double-digit EBITDA margins, establishing the business as one of the most profitable palletised freight operators in the UK. Madex Logistics complements this with a London hub and an international network extending into mainland Europe.

A spokesperson for WS Holdco stated: "By combining deep sector expertise, digital capability and a broader customer base, the enlarged group is well positioned to unlock cross-selling opportunities, drive efficiencies and accelerate organic growth."
