Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland has appointed Simon Villanueva as director of new truck sales, reporting directly to managing director Christian Coolsaet, according to reporting in Agg Net.

In his new role, Villanueva will oversee the company's truck sales operations, alongside related product and customer support activities across the UK and Ireland markets. He brings 15 years of senior leadership experience within Volvo Group to the position, most recently serving as legal director Europe South & West, covering markets including the UK, Spain, France and Italy.

During the past two years, Villanueva also combined the role with responsibility for Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland's public affairs activities. Speaking about his appointment, Villanueva stated: "I am incredibly proud to take on this position at such an important time for the business. Having spent many years across the Volvo Group, I have seen first-hand the strength of our people, the depth of our customer relationships and the clear direction of our long-term strategy."

Villanueva assumes the role at a time when Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland continue to perform strongly in the market. The company stated it led UK tractor unit registrations in 2025, supported by strong demand for the Volvo FH Aero range and by its focus on fuel efficiency and operational performance.

Volvo Trucks manufactures heavy commercial vehicles serving transport operators across Europe with tractor units and rigid trucks designed for long-distance haulage, distribution and specialist logistics applications. The FH Aero range addresses operator demand for fuel-efficient vehicles reducing operating costs whilst maintaining payload and performance specifications.

UK and Ireland truck markets require sales leadership capable of supporting operator requirements across multiple transport sectors including international haulage, domestic distribution and specialist logistics operations.
