
Summer disruption looms for Northern Ireland’s transport network
Leaders across the transport industry should be watching Northern Ireland closely. TSSA members at Translink, spanning rail supervisors, clerical, and management grades, have overwhelmingly voted in favour of industrial action over unresolved pay disputes and role inequities. With support for strike action exceeding 80 to 90 per cent in key divisions, the potential for serious service disruption looms large, particularly during the critical summer period.
The core issues include pay disparities where supervisors earn less than those they manage and dissatisfaction with below-par offers for 2024. No strike dates are set yet, but the threat of major operational fallout is real… and rising.
