Belgium-based short sea shipping operator CLdN has finalised the move of its shipping operations from Luxembourg to the United Kingdom as of late May 2026, according to reporting in World Cargo News.
The company describes the relocation as "a natural evolution" reflecting its operational structure and strategic positioning. CLdN has been operating freight connections to the UK for more than 60 years and owns and operates port terminals in London at Purfleet, Killingholme in the Humber and Liverpool.
Around three-quarters of CLdN sailings currently start or end in a UK port, supporting the company's decision to establish its operations base in the United Kingdom. The relocation streamlines administrative functions and operational decision-making, aligning the company's headquarters location with its primary service region and customer base.
CLdN operates integrated quay-to-quay and door-to-door logistics solutions linking major economic areas across Europe. The company provides short sea roll-on roll-off freight connections between the European continent, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iberia and Scandinavia, serving customers across multiple sectors including automotive, retail and engineering.
The UK-based operations structure enables CLdN to enhance service delivery to customers across Ireland and the United Kingdom, with improved coordination between shipping services and logistics networks. Port terminal ownership across multiple UK locations provides infrastructure supporting efficient cargo handling and multimodal connectivity.
CLdN employs approximately 3,000 staff and operates 30 ships providing more than 200 sailings weekly across European trade lanes. The company positions itself as offering the lowest carbon dioxide footprint of all Western European roll-on roll-off operators, supporting customer sustainability objectives.
The operational relocation reflects evolving logistics industry structures as shipping companies align headquarters locations with major service corridors and customer concentrations, improving operational efficiency and service responsiveness across European maritime trade lanes.
