AVG Logistics Limited, an India-based multimodal logistics provider, has launched a new liquid logistics business vertical, introducing rail-based transportation of bulk liquid chemicals using high-grade ISO tank containers. The initiative marks the company’s entry into a high-growth logistics segment serving chemical and allied industries across India.
The newly inaugurated vertical is designed to move bulk liquid cargo safely and efficiently across major industrial corridors. Each dedicated train will carry 96 ISO tank containers with a combined payload capacity of approximately 3,100 tonnes per trip. AVG Logistics expects the operation to generate annual revenue of around Rs. 22–24 crore (€2.4–2.6 million), highlighting strong commercial demand for compliant liquid transport solutions.
The first customer for the new service is Chemplast Sanmar Limited. The rail operation complements AVG Logistics’ recently imported ISO tank container fleet, enabling an integrated logistics model covering first-mile collection, long-haul rail movement and last-mile delivery. The company has also collaborated with Central Warehousing Corporation under a long-term lease arrangement for flatbed train assets.
By leveraging rail for liquid cargo movement, AVG Logistics aims to offer a cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional road-based transport. Rail-led logistics reduces transit times, enhances cargo integrity and significantly lowers handling risks for hazardous and sensitive liquid chemicals.
“This initiative reinforces our commitment to building an integrated liquid transportation ecosystem that meets evolving industry requirements, while adhering strictly to global safety and quality standards,” the company said.
AVG Logistics has historically operated van parcel and freight services across multiple Indian routes under long-term lease arrangements. The expansion into liquid and bulk chemical transportation represents a strategic diversification into a segment where safety, asset quality and regulatory compliance are critical.
