Hong Kong-based all-cargo airline Air Hong Kong, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific, has signed a long-term lease agreement for an Airbus A330P2F converted freighter, expanding the Cathay Group's regional cargo capacity as fleet investment accelerates across the group.
According to Aviation Business News, the aircraft is scheduled to join Air Hong Kong's fleet in Q4 2026 under a lease with Air Transport Services Group, with the aircraft owned by its leasing subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management. It will primarily operate cargo services between Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and other regional destinations on behalf of Cathay Cargo.
Dominic Perret, director cargo at Cathay, said: "The additional capacity offered by Air Hong Kong's latest A330 freighter will complement Cathay Cargo's future A350F freighters, providing us with greater agility to build our regional cargo network and making more options available for our freight forwarder partners."
Agatha Lee, chief operating officer at Air Hong Kong, said: "We look forward to welcoming this newest addition to our fleet, which will enable Air Hong Kong to leverage the opportunities presented by the Three-Runway System at Hong Kong International Airport to expand our presence in the region. This marks an exciting chapter for Air Hong Kong as we expand our business to support the ongoing development of the Hong Kong international aviation hub."
The A330P2F addition follows Cathay Cargo's recent order for two additional Airbus A350F freighters, reflecting a period of sustained fleet expansion across the group. Air Hong Kong currently operates 14 Airbus A330 freighters providing express cargo services for DHL Express, while Cathay Cargo operates 20 Boeing 747 freighters alongside bellyhold capacity across a passenger network serving more than 100 destinations worldwide.
The new aircraft will support Air Hong Kong's regional expansion plans while enabling the carrier to capitalise on increased throughput capacity made available by Hong Kong International Airport's three-runway system, one of the most significant infrastructure developments in the airport's recent history.
